1-1-62       0000    With the Old Year nearly done.

we lay here moored at FOXTROT One,

In Pearl Harbor we securely lay

at a Ford Island berth, this very first day.

With port to the WILHOITE, one of our kind,

we’re tied with the usual standard mooring line.

The ships presently in the nest,

                                       naturally are all the best

The first is the HAMUL (AD-20) with repairs and spare parts aplenty

And nestled snugly to her side, the FLETCHER (DDE-445)

DER-397, the WILHOITE next to her,

and then the best, we all concur.

The LANSING then on the outboard side,

taking things casually in her stride.

Ships present are from the Pacific Fleet,

Ready to cope with any force we meet.

Other are yard and district craft,

From a fast ocean tug to a side painters raft.

SOPA is CINCPACFLT in all his might

                                       With headquarters at Makalapa Height.

The tender provides us with comforts of home,

Electricity, steam, fresh water, and phone.

For modified YOKE, the material condition.
